On April 3-4, 2025, Bidiphar, the Binh Dinh Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Joint Stock Company, proudly participated in the Fourth National Women in Science Conference held in Hue, themed “Innovation, Environmental Protection, and Healthcare for Sustainable Development in the Central Region and Central Highlands.” Organized by the Vietnam Association of Women Intellectuals, the event gathered nearly 300 delegates, including female scientists, experts, and leaders from various ministries and sectors.
Bidiphar’s Research Presentation
Bidiphar was honored to be among the selected organizations to deliver a direct presentation at the conference, with the topic: “Research on Establishing a Propagation Process and Transferring Cultivation Techniques for the Medicinal Plant Ampelopsis cantoniensis (Hook. et Arn) Planch (Chè dây) in Accordance with GACP-WHO Standards, Developing a Production Linkage Chain for Ethnic Minority Communities to Improve Livelihoods and Reduce Pressure on Forest Resource Exploitation in An Toan Commune, An Lao District, Binh Dinh Province.”
Project Objectives and Significance
The project focuses on the sustainable development of Chè dây, a valuable medicinal plant known for supporting the treatment of gastric ulcers, eliminating Helicobacter pylori bacteria, and detoxifying the body. Through its research, Bidiphar has:
- Developed propagation, cultivation, and harvesting processes compliant with GACP-WHO standards.
- Studied extraction processes and produced commercial products such as tea bags and hard capsules.
- Established a production linkage chain with the Bana ethnic minority community in An Toan Commune, An Lao District, Binh Dinh Province.
As a result, the project not only provides high-quality medicinal materials but also creates additional income, improves livelihoods for local communities, and reduces pressure on forest resource exploitation, contributing to the conservation of indigenous genetic resources.
Achievements and Vision
Starting with an initial cultivation area of just 2 hectares, Bidiphar’s Chè dây plantation has expanded to over 5 hectares, with stable output and quality controlled in accordance with the Vietnam Pharmacopoeia V. Products derived from Chè dây have been well-received in the market, contributing to reducing reliance on imported medicinal materials and enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese medicinal products. Through this project, Bidiphar reaffirms its commitment to applying science and technology, collaborating with communities, and developing safe, effective healthcare products, aiming for self-sufficiency in domestic medicinal material sources.
Conclusion
The Fourth National Women in Science Conference provided Bidiphar with an opportunity to share its research achievements and further promote the value of Vietnamese medicinal materials. We remain dedicated to contributing to sustainable development, protecting community health, and elevating the position of Vietnamese pharmaceuticals in the international market.
